What is S.T.E.A.M.?

Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math

These are the five subjects that may be most important for our kids to be learning now. We need more scientists and innovators and S.T.E.A.M. education holds the key. Building rockets, robots and other cool contraptions helps kids become creative thinkers and problem solvers and may help them and our world in the future. S.T.E.A.M. is a new movement in American Education to help teachers and their students understand how the academic disciplines of these five subjects impact their world and prepare them for the workforce of tomorrow. Here at Kinder Academy we encourage our students to DREAM it…BUILD it…WRECK it…then REPEAT it.

Why Kinder Academy?

It is an established fact that the first five years of a child's life are the most crucial. It is the time when his/her personality and intelligence level are determined. The child’s brain is a lot more active and alert than an adults is, forever grasping new skills, language and methods. So Preschool is indeed a precious time in your child's life. Parents and teachers, working together, can create an environment in which a child can bloom to his/her fullest potential.

SAXON MATH

This curriculum provides unique hands-on activities and rich mathematical conversations that actively engage students in the learning process. Concepts are developed, reviewed, and practiced in order to develop strong math skills over time. Children will learn proper writing, recognizing, and counting numbers, along with graphing, sorting, adding and subtracting skills.

SPALDING PHONICS

Strong phonics skills are an essential part of the learning process for children. It is for this reason we use the Spalding curriculum to teach children proper phonological letter sounds, which build strong spelling, reading and writing skills.

OPEN COURT LANGUAGE ARTS

Once children accomplish their letter recognition and basic phonics comprehension, children will begin strengthening their reading skills individually through weekly reading groups. Children will read at their own level, and move from level to level at their own individual pace.
